Audience Member The story of the legendary band The Beach Boys as told in this sloppy TV movie which doesn't do its subject much justice. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member A good TV movie about the family dynamic that the Beach Boys grew up, came to fame with, and in some ways especially with Brian Wilson, disintegrated all while making great music. I enjoyed the story, the actors were adequate except Kevin Dunn was outstanding playing the over controlling father...and the scenes with Charlie Manson creepy. I think one of the saddest things was to watch Brian Wilson fall apart and be taken advantage of by addicts, hangers on, and parasites leading to lost potential and lost relationships. I felt sorry for Brian Wilson's baby child who in one scene his wife was asking him to hold their child and he refused for fear of being a father...like his one father. Brings up a good issue about fathers passing on their fears or terrors to the next generation. Wow. Wish some of the actors had a little more charisma considering they were playing the Beach Boys. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member there was honestly a time or era in my musical life where i grew very fond of the beach boys and wanted to know there life as family and i must say this movie kinda favored on mike loves part then the rest of his cousins, especially Brian Wilson a musical genius only to be hunted by his own life other then that it was a very interesting television movie and was very surprised by the acting yes, the movie kinda seemed to be confused on where to start off and where to end off, yes it did completely neglected the work of the beach boys and focus on the drama and some of it seemed to be not real and made up but other then that 3 stars i would've rate it a 4 if they had made it more about the music then the drama haha the next american family movie will most then likely be about the osmans NOT! lol Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Best. TV. Movie. EVERRRRR!!!!! WITH BEACH BOYS MUSIC TOO AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Pardon my hysteria :) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Very well presented. Kevin Dunn recreates Brian Wilson with exquisite fidelity... his mannerisms, his moving around, his emotional pains and insecurities while at the same time giving us more insight to the tribulations of a very sensitive musical genius... Gifts and talents dont just come with responsibility but demand a high share of personal sacrifice. As his mother said to him once... "can you really blame them for wanting it all from you?" Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I just love this movie about The Beach Boys. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews
