Restless teen Ben Mockridge (Gary Grimes) eagerly signs on to be an assistant on a cattle drive headed by the gruff Frank Culpepper (Billy "Green" Bush). Setting out from his California farm, Ben works for the cynical cook (Raymond Guth) and is given menial tasks, soon realizing that a cowboy's life is not the romantic adventure he had imagined. On the long trail to Colorado, he experiences hard work that is usually tedious, sometimes dangerous and occasionally violent.

Karim O I always watch westerns with my grandad and this was fantastic to watch! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/06/24 Full Review Chicha Z This is a great Western. Tombstone is superficial compared to this movie. Everyone looked REAL, AUTHENTIC. The way they talked even. It made me so angry in places, I didn't think I could finish watching. I liked some of the guys so much and then they are just shot like they were nothing. It brings to the reality of today. How man will still fight and feud and even kill over A foot or two of land. So selfish. Man will never realize they can never own Anything......especially land. You can have deeds and still be told to get off. Different day and time, but MAN ALWAYS STAYS THE SAME THROUGH GENERATIONS. SELFISH, HATEFUL,GREEDY, A BULLY. LOVE THIS MOVIE. IT ALSO SHOWS HOW SOME IN ADVERSITY, TRY TO DO WHATS RIGHT, WHATS MORAL. A GREAT WESTERN. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/26/23 Full Review Don M Blew me away when I first saw it, was like no other western I had seen before. To me, it seemed to contain a certain realism of the time period. An enjoyable movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/24/23 Full Review Steve M A really different look at the slimy side of life that most westerns don't show. So, which depiction of the old west is true? Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/31/23 Full Review william d Uneven at times, the film nonetheless is an excellent and seemingly realistic portrayal of a cattle drive. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review delysid d its a long buried film, but its a shame because its one of the best of its type Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/17/20 Full Review Read all reviews
