Ann Ross Maclean's Magazine The story is excitingly paced and handsomely produced, and altogether worth seeing. Oct 9, 2019 Full Review Nick Davis Nick's Flick Picks In Rainer's case, The Emperor's Candlesticks seems unusually revealing, doffing the dropcloth from exactly the sort of peculiar, temporarily arresting artifact she was, guaranteed to inspire buyer's remorse. Steve D Not great but the cast makes it work. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/02/24 Full Review Audience Member Powell is great as always!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member William Powell and and Luise Rainer are a couple of spies on opposite sides in this romantic comedy. As you would expect, the two fall in love as they both criss cross eastern Europe in search of the title candlesticks in this lightweight but enjoyable spy comedy. Robert Young (in an odd role), Maureen O'Sullivan and Frank Morgan also appear in the film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member If William Powell is in a film his charm automatically gives the film 3 stars. Enjoyable film about two spy's on opposite sides who have both hidden secret messages in some antique candlesticks. Powell and Rainer are great together, he is the one who taught her film acting years before. The movie gets a little goofy at the end and it's not one of Powell's best. All and all it's enjoyable and looks nice. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member crazy nutty kind of farce but watchable Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
