Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com Jones takes a different route to scares at times, ending up with a lumpy oddity that merges the afterlife, cannibalism, and camping, making for a passable bottom shelf offering. Rated: B- Sep 6, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

jeff l If you like late night, drive in movies, then check it out. It's so bad its funny. The production quality is on par with a lot of the horror movies from this era. It's just a notch under Friday the 13th. It was a staple in 1980s video stores. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Four people go camping in the forest because, by God, they really hate the city. The first half hour is pretty dull, and watching it on VHS made it impossible to see a lot of things happening in the dark. But once we're introduced to the killer, it gets more interesting. It's just a lonely guy who wants to eat. And he's going to kill to get his food because dammit, winter is coming (Valar Morghulis). That is what makes this movie tread the line of so-bad-it's-good. The killer is goofy and his backstory is hilarious. His wife was cheating on him with the refrigerator repair man, so he killed her and took his kids to live in the forest. Then the kids die and now their ghosts (along with the mother) haunt the woods. I honestly don't remember many of the deaths, but this movie's appeal isn't about that. It's just a bad movie that you can laugh at. I was nearly dying of laughter when the hero of the movie broke his leg and was crying like a 3-year-old who just got a paper cut and wants attention. But, while it has some fun moments, there is a lot of time when it drags. So I wouldn't be quick to recommend this even to fans of bad movies. It has spurts of fun moments, but isn't quite a consistent fun watch. Fans of Don't Go in the Woods would love this though. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A campy yet somewhat enjoyable early-80s schlockfest, The Forest is not just a slasher film but also an idiotic supernatural film as well. A lack of gore and terror together with the absolutely ludicrous ghost children make this enjoyable only as a comedy. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Man wishes to be out of the smog and standstill traffic but finds an escape to the wilderness not a good remedy. Twenty miles for two hours of traffic is nothing compared to six hours of finding your way back to your car in the forest at night. Antagonist looks more like a truck driver than a cannibalistic cave-dwelling killing ghost; maybe more imagination could have been employed there. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Yet another slasher film set in the woods. Two guys who set out to join their wives on a forest camping trip meet a cave dweller who needs food for the winter. Would have been better without the reappearing ghost wife and kids. I found it odd when the repairman, after being caught in bed with the guy's wife, went back to work at the house like nothing happened.
