Isabel Quigly The Spectator A tribute to its absurd direction, for the cast is a good tough one, and given half a chance ought to do twice as much. Jul 16, 2018 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Robert Taylor, known as The Hangman, carries this taut Western as the famed deputy marshal who always gets his man. Audience Member Good western here recommended James Welch, Henderson, Arkansas, September 3, 2023 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Rather cheap looking western almost seems like a TV movie (and also features a number of future TV stars including Tina Louise, Fess Parker, and Jack Lord) except that it was directed by Hollywood legend Michael Curtiz. Robert Taylor plays a lawman who finds himself in the uncomfortable position of defending a man who's wanted for murder. It's not a bad film, but it did seem pretty ordinary. Curtiz does bring some flair to the film, but the weak script is hard to overcome. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A good cast and script make this unpretentious Western work on several levels--The Hangman was a mostly fine western plus Robert Taylor!!
