08/11/2022 Extraordinary performance by young Nicolas Vogel grounds and elevates "The Inheritors" into a very powerful film. Thomas (Vogel) is a lost teen, failing at school and physically abused by his psychopathic mother. After a chance encounter with another delinquent he's drawn into a burgeoning community of neo-Nazi youth. The film shows the inner workings of Austria's extreme right wing. Frightening without being preachy or heavy handed, the film has a great unpredictable plot. Without Vogel's stunning performance "The Inheritors" could have been just another artsy homoerotic European coming of age film.
