Dec 15, 2008 Not a bad documentary; def. came out of it knowing more about the Pakistan's ISI and their role in the event. See more May 12, 2008 it was an interesting film, but it seemed as the director wasn't sure if he wanted the movie to be a documentary or a drama See more Mar 9, 2008 "The Journalist and the Jihadi" is a nice idea for a documentary, tracing the lives of Daniel Pearl and his eventual terrorist murderer, over the course of many years. What led each man to pursue his destiny? What led each man to this collision course of fate? By looking at each man's life, we also get glimpses of the international attitude and culture leading to 9/11, and immediately following. The anger, ruthlessness, and determination of the terrorists. The passion and equal determination of the journalistic world. Ultimately, however, a decent documentary is weakened when it simply becomes a tribute to Daniel Pearl. Hey, I get it. He was a great man and a great journalist, and his murder was a horrible tragedy. But let the story speak for itself. Don't spend ten minutes playing photo montages and showing clips of people crying. Trust me, I understand that it was sad.
