philip w A very good war film = I know it as the long the short and the tall which is a far superior title = very well done and great acting = Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/31/23 Full Review Audience Member An intense watch of a very tense and difficult situation for a group of British soldiers in the jungle. it really gets deep into the psychological affects of war and primarily the almost impossible situation they are in, capturing the fear, disillusionment, suspicion, frustration and anger that exemplified the individual as well as the group during the second World War. This has a fine male British cast. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member War drama set in Malaya , following the capture of a Japanese scout the problems begin, Great performances by Richard Todd,Richard Harris ,David McCallum ,Kenji Takaki,Ronald Fraser ,Laurence Harvey . Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member British soldiers in Burma in WWII - a charming study of personalities and how they may change when faced with danger. I found this a very positive representation of the Japanese in a war film so soon after the end of that war. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Really enjoyed this. The acting from Laurence Harvey and Richard Harris was fantastic and made up the for the films slightly static feel. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member A decent version of the Willis Hall play, but by sticking too close to the original material also hamstrings the film somewhat. Everything feels too staged and static, from the settings to the conversations and situations. The cast is good though, Laurence Harvey in particular, but the juicy central idea could certainly be ready for a remake. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Isabel Quigly The Spectator As far as the war is concerned, we see a good deal of physical violence and squalor, but the detail is unconvincing; and what, out of it all, is it trying to say, meaning us to feel?
