The movie is well directed, nicely acted, with beautiful settings and an interesting point of view through the eyes of 8-years-old Martina (although only discontinuously along the movie -the director was not brave enough apparently) but it lacks a real sense of immersion into the lives of the characters, the binding with their stories which is the real trigger of emotions in a movie.

Tries really hard to be a great and important movie about an event that deserves a great and important movie but, as well made as much of the movie is, the sum ends up being less than the parts.

Very touching. Seeing this movie is not an entertainment but a play for peace.A small girl tells us without a word that we human beings are stupid and cruel now and before. Nevertheless I wanna believe there is still some hope in the last scene.There is another movie about a massacre in Italy, Spike Lee's "Miracle at St. Anna". This Italian movie is much more sensitive and quiet than that.

L'histoire... malheureusement on la connait... L'occupation allemande durant la dernière guerre, mais racontà (C)e cette fois de la perspective d'une petite fille italienne, vivant dans les montagnes près de Bologne, là ou un massacre notoire a eu lieu. Minutieux dans les dà (C)tails du quotidien de l'à (C)poque et de la rà (C)gion, emploi du dialecte local, casting savoureux.

Questa è memoria di sangue, di fuoco, di martirio, del più vile sterminio di popolo, voluto dai nazisti di von Kesselring, e dai loro soldati di ventura, dellâ(TM)ultima servitù di Salò, per ritorcere azioni di guerra partigiana.
