Audience Member Another great film based on a Catherine Cookson's novel. This one has a bit more action on the side than the other ones, and the main characters had quite complicated love lives with no-one really enjoying a happy ending. This was somewhat of a let-down for me when compared to the other Catherine Cookson novel masterpieces. Unfortunately, this business motivational type movie does not deal with how to view negative situations in lesson-giving formats very well and tends to be similar to the christian type of morality that supports capitalistic enterprise. If one is victimized, this movie then interprets the victim's life as one's own fault rather than recognize that social conditions and training also influences one's choices in the moment. This then re-victimizes an individual, attacking the self-esteem of an individual that further silences agency.
