Audience Member Much of the greatness in writer/director Nelson Lyon's 1971 cult classic comes from the revelation that is Sarah Kennedy, and how Leon Perera's razor sharp black and white cinematography brings her unique charisma into focus. Coming on like an edgier Goldie Hawn, Kennedy imbues The Telephone Book with a sly, disarming charm that is a joy to behold. This is a delicious slice of absurdist, raunchy, and biting social satire the flavor of which we will probably never see again. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member an underground comic book in mostly 16mm black and white - for better and for worse Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/03/18 Full Review Audience Member Brilliant. Highly recommended if you wanna see a girl get phone fucked by a man in a pig mask. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Most certainly a dated product of the time in which it was made, but there is much to be found here. A cult film deserving of its following. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member A free-loving teen (Sarah Kennedy) receives the greatest erotic cold call of all time. Obsessed with the prospect of meeting the poetic lech who tantalized her over the phone, this young woman runs through a gauntlet of perverts and freaks on a quest to track him down. Too weird for the porn crowd and too pornographic for the art house, The Telephone Book spent decades languishing in obscurity. It's not for everyone, but I found myself charmed by how a cast of game amateurs embraced the goofy script of this madcap sex comedy. This film will appeal to anyone interested in indie cinema that takes a strangely cheeky approach to phone sex. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member A bizarrely arty approach to smut, and filled with some great vintage NYC footage, this little gem is well worth checking out. Thanks to Vinegar Syndrome from dragging it out into the light once and for all. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews
