Jose Solís Common Sense Media For the rest of us, The Abyss plays very much like a by-the-numbers disaster film in which a select few are chosen to be the characters we care about the most as the world around them is literally swallowed by the ground. Mar 13, 2024 Full Review John O'Brien Inverse For those who prefer their disaster flicks without so much bombast, then this abyss is worth peeking into. Feb 21, 2024 Full Review John Serba Decider The application of a little verisimilitude helps a disaster flick like The Abyss go down a little bit easier. Feb 20, 2024 Full Review Lori Meek Ready Steady Cut It’s got an interesting premise, a great cast, and outstanding special effects. However, the plot is predictable, and whatever spark it had in the beginning turns into a snooze fest of a final act. Rated: 2.5/5 Feb 16, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Stephen F pure shite .complete waste of time . Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/25 Full Review Yusef D Shitty acting, too much drama, and totally a waste of time. I thought it was the other movie which is also called The Abyss. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/25 Full Review Audience Member I had higher expectations for this movie, especially since it was based on a true story. While the visuals were stunning and felt grounded in realism, that's unfortunately where the positives end. The characters were poorly developed, lacking depth and relatability except in a few moments. They seemed to lack the emotional awareness and common sense necessary for survival even by movie standards. The main characters often acted selfishly, making reckless decisions that either worsened the situation or could have easily been avoided. Some of the deaths felt emotionally detached and felt weren't needed. While I understand the need to keep pushing forward in survival circumstances, the constant stream of irrational choices made the story feel frustrating. Can't say this would be worth a second watch or a recommendation. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/12/25 Full Review Pierluigi S The most stupid movie I have ever watched. Everything without any meaning. All the main characters seem to be really stupid making wrong choices along the entire movie. The scenario should be similar to what could happen in real life (obviously movie style), but everything is completely out of mind. Boring and not interesting 😒😒 Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/09/24 Full Review Sean V It was promising in the beginning but then turned into one of the most idiotic human behavior movies I've seen. Illogical. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/17/24 Full Review wendy p Unlikeable and self centered characters fail to help others in a scramble to look out for themselves. Horrible teens can't do a single thing they are told, while being unpleasant. Probably influenced by similar horrible children in American films, now they all think that's how to write this age group. I believed the NPC girl. Some of the most unlikeable ones live. I liked the holes in the ground, they looked real Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/15/24 Full Review Read all reviews
