Nicolas Rapold New York Times Sing J. Lee’s quiet, big-hearted debut feature is steeped in the sorrow and yearning of its Vietnamese American characters as they work through the lingering trauma of displacement while living in Southern California. Mar 7, 2025 Full Review Amy Nicholson Los Angeles Times Lee’s too subtle to say it out loud, but there’s a hushed irony in that Long attempted to rebuild a life halfway around the world only to wind up in the same place: captive at gunpoint. Mar 2, 2025 Full Review Katie Walsh Tribune News Service The intent is to remain in his inner world as he goes through this extreme event, but while it is beautiful and poetic, it is also somewhat abstruse and feels in conflict with the momentum of the larger story. Feb 28, 2025 Full Review Tom Atkinson Film Threat More than just a crime thriller, The Accidental Getaway Driver is a melancholic journey through the quiet corners of lost souls. Rated: 7/10 Mar 13, 2025 Full Review Julian Roman MovieWeb The Accidental Getaway Driver skillfully blurs the lines between gritty crime noir and a deeply personal human drama. Stars Hiệp Trân Nghĩa and Dustin Nguyen are fantastic in director Sing J. Lee's feature debut. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 4, 2025 Full Review Will Mavity Next Best Picture It could have been an indie masterpiece if it had worked out its tension and pacing issues. As it is, it is still a moving meditation on masculinity, the immigrant experience, and loneliness in modern American life. Rated: 7/10 Feb 28, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Ben W Surprisingly great! Started a bit slow, but really connected with the characters as the story progressed. Very well done and believable performances all around. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/12/25 Full Review David P I thought it was an awesome movie! Engaging throughout. So much better than a bloated Hollywood movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review Shannon P I enjoy glimpses into other cultures, and this movie had an interesting story about an elderly Vietnamese man who provides unlicensed taxi service in his personal car. He is contacted for a ride by a trio of men who turn out to be escapees from prison, and the movie explores their various personalities and the evolving relationship between the "kidnapped" driver and one of the escapees. Be prepared for subtitles, but an interesting and moving story line Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/06/25 Full Review joel g very slow slow moving movie.. There is a payoff, but its subtle and makes the viewer have to sit thru too much footage to get to it.. Can not recommend. sorry folks.. This will be on netflix in the very near furture and still wont garner any attention. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/07/25 Full Review Read all reviews
