Critics Consensus

The Angels' Share is a surprisingly delightful, uplifting comedy that successfully blends a charming story of redemption with bits of dark humor and a social message.

Wendy Ide Times (UK) Ken Loach blends his usual politically acute social realism with a tale of hope and humour in this gentle Highlands caper. Aug 2, 2023 Full Review Deborah Ross The Spectator Part social realism, part comedy caper, and so good-natured, warm and affectionate it's rather a joy, even though it doesn't exactly add up. Sep 1, 2018 Full Review Stephanie Merry Washington Post Despite its ultimate sense of optimism, the Glasgow-set dramedy nevertheless carries a sense of foreboding. And yet, that might not have been the intention. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 1, 2014 Full Review Michael Leader Den of Geek Such an approach starts to grate before the film skips toward its sickly-sentimental climax...admirable to see the director rip up his own rulebook so late in his career, but to do so mid-film is perhaps not the best way to do it. Rated: 3/5 May 7, 2024 Full Review Kip Mooney College Movie Review The best movie so far this year. Rated: A- Sep 18, 2021 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com The Angels' Share takes Loach's trademark edge and softens it a wee bit . Rebecca S Just a lovely, heartfelt film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/16/23 Full Review GARRET W Just brilliant from start to finish, can't fault it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review rory s Interesting movie. A clever comedy drama movie, based in Scotland. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Needed subtitles to understand it. Lol . We loved it .
