Mitch M Essentially a good, funny film spoiled by the subliminal message that the ignorant Scots need guidance from the English to civilise and educate them about their own culture and heritage. Per questo, almeno inizialmente, si fatica leggermente a salire a bordo; ma una volta che la trama prende piega, ci si appassiona inesorabilmente per la sorte del protagonista seguendolo nell'altalena di emozioni che si alternano. Il finale racchiude la particolarietà del suo regista; un lieto fine non senza imprevisti e senza grosse esagerazioni.
