This cheap-as-chips British horror concerning demented nuns is risible in the extreme, but there’s something about its willingness to commit to the bit that’s sort of admirable. Go to Full Review

It’s a great premise for a slice of spooky nunsploitation hysteria, but, despite the ambitious attempt, directors Andy Crane and Nathan Shepka’s The Baby in the Basket can’t quite deliver on this promise. Go to Full Review

The Baby in the Basket is gothic dread at its best if one can overlook the derivative story and the occasional stiffness from the acting. Go to Full Review

It quickly becomes apparent that this is going to be more character driven than most nun horror movies. While the sisters follow the familiar tropes ranging from very devout to questioning their faith, the plot never feels derivative. Go to Full Review

Owen N. @SaddamMustaine 4d Tubi Roulette (1.28.26): “The Baby in the Basket” (2025) Nobody puts baby in the basket… except SATAN Oh brother, where do we begin. This was a doozy. I don’t even hardly drink anymore but i think a couple stiff drinks could have really helped get through this. Let’s just get the bad out of the way. After all, Mama always said if you don’t have anything nice to say, post it under a username on Reddit. Laughing as I type this: This movie came out in 2025. If you would have held a gun to my head, and pulled the trigger every time I guessed the year incorrectly, I’d be out here with about 30 bullets in my head right now. It is very 1990s. Just know that going in. The soundtrack is just absolutely horrendous. It’s laugh out loud bad in a lot of places; I would say it’s as if someone bought all the music from Beetlejuice that DIDN’T make it into the movie. Just a whole film of over the top, silly Beetlejuice deep cuts. The acting is fine. The casting is fine. There’s a couple places where it is ridiculous, most notably off the top of my head the scene where the guy is nailed to the wall (I guess spoiler alert? Trust me, you won’t care) and he screams directly into the camera. Look, man, I’m glad you got cast and found some work. But if this dude didn’t have to reshoot that scene 67 times because of how hard he was laughing, I’m going to think less of him for it. The effects are also pretty ridiculous and pretty 1990s. Again, 2025. Somehow. Another hilarious part was towards the end when a man’s voice says “Worship me!” And it sounds like they just grabbed someone from the film crew with zero voice work experience and said “Jesse, just scream Worship Me” “But I’m not an actor, I’m just the key grip-“ “YELL THE LINE, JESSE” So bad. The song at the end. Oh dear lord. We’ve all heard parts of this song, right? I won’t give it away. But what I will say is that they hang on it for way, way, way too long. And the lyrics keep getting worse and worse and dumber and dumber. There’s a reason you never heard the whole song! Alright, what was good? The sets / scenery. A+ here. Really awesome setting and it’s amazing to see it. Also pretty good: the plot. You can kinda see where this is going once the character in the title shows up in the receptacle in the title. “No spoilers” but there’s a baby in a basket, in case you didn’t put that together. I am willing to bet you can also accurately guess whether or not the baby is a good baby or a bad baby. Seriously though, man this could have been really great. Had it just been quieter, much quieter, you know, like a convent might be, and more looming. Looming and quiet! Could have been great. Give this a watch if you want to see a lot of cool atmosphere and get really frustrated in the process. See more Iamwhoi M @Shaboutiques Jun 8 Nuns gone wild....and still boring. Awful script, terrible direction, execrable acting. Even much of the speech was hard to make out. 18 cert presumably given to save as many people as possible from this nonsense as the only frightening thing is how this rubbish gets in front of a camera in the first place. Within the first minute to two I knew this was going to be bad. It had that "direct to video/made for TV" vibe going strong, which is generally not a good thing. But I stayed to the bitter end and was rewarded with extreme dissatisfaction.
