Cristian s Rara. La historia está bien pero el ritmo lento y las actuaciones no ayudan. Aunque por lo que se ve es una película con presupuesto ínfimo así que con lo que tenían lo hicieron bastante bien. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/24 Full Review Oliver A This film may suffer from a somewhat weak script at times and the story does have something of a teen drama project feel about it. That said, however, the Gemini killer is performed spectacularly by Davis and the film is worth watching for him alone. He is truly masterful and whilst this isn't enough to support the film entirely, it makes it well worth watching! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/23 Full Review Audience Member This has got to be some of the worst acting you can possibly find in a horror movie. The main character of this film is constantly under-reacting to every situation. At one point, he has three of his fingers removed with a pair of pliers. Although he does yell out in pain, his reaction is closer to that of a person tripping and falling than that of a person losing body parts. The opening scene of this film had such terrible acting that I actually started laughing. Besides this, the main character (while his hands and feet are bound in ropes) constantly tries to intimidate the serial killer, and despite this always resulting in him getting beaten up, he keeps trying it. There are a few decent moments, and it does create tension occasionally, but that cannot be overshadowed by the insanely bad acting. My favorite line in this entire film encapsulates how bad this script writing is too: "Did you guys get in a fight?" "No, as a matter of fact, we just had GREAT sex." This movie could easily have made improvements that would have worked. This movie was so close to being good, but the end product had landed several miles away from what one would consider a good movie. Having a better scriptwriter, and hiring better actors would have bridged most of those miles. The idea for the movie was not too bad of one. This movie, however, falls short. The ending of this movie is absolutely atrocious. The ending of this movie is perhaps the most absurd ending for a movie ever that wasn't a joke. It almost makes me want to scream with how ridiculous it is. It's so upsetting because had the writers decided not to go with something so ridiculous, and just modified it a little bit, this movie's ending almost could have been satisfactory. Instead, they chose to be outlandish, instead of realistic. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Probably up there with the worst movies I've ever watched. Just all of it was bad. The plot, the script, the acting. Almost laughable but it was so bad it put us in a bad mood so there was no laughing. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review brad p ‘The Basement' Squanders a Fascinating Premise Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Best film in all the films. Oscar's need awarding. Horror doesnt get more entertaining than this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter The Basement has the feel of a stilted Off-Off-Broadway audition piece. Sep 11, 2018 Full Review Dev Shea Nightmarish Conjurings I do recommend this movie, if anything for Davis displaying his acting chops for all to see. Sep 15, 2022 Full Review Amanda Sink The Hollywood Outsider The Basement falters with a script that needed more attention paid to the dialogue. Entertaining? Sure, I suppose. Successful? Not quite. As a whole, they just can't seem to get up the stairs. Rated: 4.5/10 Jan 9, 2019 Full Review Deirdre Crimmins HighDef Digest A decent bad guy is not enough to carry a film, even a horror film. I need to care whether or not the characters survive. I need to be entertained by quality gore. I needed much more than The Basement has to offer. Rated: 1/5 Sep 21, 2018 Full Review Dann Gire Chicago Daily Herald This wince-inducing endurance test makes the Saw movies appear downright moralistic. Rated: 1/4 Sep 14, 2018 Full Review Chuck Foster Film Threat [For] low-budget horror, The Basement certainly isn't the worst, but it's far from the best. It's a good time-killer with great gore and decent performances, a nice background while you play that game on your phone. Don't expect anything more.
