Richard Kuipers Variety For all the money spent and pyrotechnics unleashed, this collectively directed and filmed movie about the glory of collective effort and suffering in attaining military success never attains the grandeur it strives for. Dec 27, 2021 Full Review Phil Hoad Guardian It's straight-up propaganda - almost comedically so at times. Rated: 2/5 Nov 19, 2021 Full Review Elizabeth Kerr The Hollywood Reporter No one in the high-profile cast, which... includes Zhang Hanyu, Oho Ou and Huang Xuan, gets much more than a sketch to work with, sapping the story of any real emotional connectivity. Nov 13, 2021 Full Review Víctor López G. Espinof A 175-minute war orgy that combines violence, epic absurdity and stale nationalism in the form of a solid propaganda film that does not try to hide its nature. [Full review in Spanish] Jul 9, 2022 Full Review Yago García Cinemanía (Spain) The main value of the film, or the only one, it is in making us reflect on the thousand and one times that we have swallowed equally nauseating rhetoric... courtesy of Hollywood. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3/5 Jul 5, 2022 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix The Battle at Lake Changjin is a very bloated war movie filled with simplistic dialogue, poorly written characters, and tedious fight scenes. This repetitive depiction of a crucial battle in the Korean War does not earn its nearly three-hour running time. Apr 24, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

New York Bullwin It is a carefully crafted movie to show the brutality of the bloody war and desire for the Chinese to fight for peace by standing up against Americans. On movie making itself, the battle and story telling are pretty real and awesome. But Sorry for Americans, you have to learn Mandarin (Chinese) to truly understand and appreciate the movie. To be fair, the movies also showed heavy casualties on Chinese side and mighty fire power on the American side as well. Excellent movie and Kudos to Wu Jin’s acting and directors’ master of movie making. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/06/21 Full Review JW Entertaining. Battle scene too long. Great propaganda for PLA. Not true story however. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/07/21 Full Review Mike W The movie has an objective of war glorification and nationalism. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/13/24 Full Review One of the worst Chinese war movies, full of fake nationalism and patriotism, this movie is suspended by the government in order to make people believe what the government think is correct. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/02/23 Full Review matthew s It was pretty boring, mediocre visuals, interesting story. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/20/23 Full Review Herry S This movie is really insane how Chinese soldiers were wont give up to fight Against American soldiers but wow, also that is true America cannot fight by themself how to killed them because of too many of them cannot be enough through wiped them out. Of course American soldier were left the island is not belong the island of America, now China has more power backing up with Russia & North Korea.
