Michael Rechtshaffen Los Angeles Times Michael Mueller's character-driven script is about the only thing that feels driven in this otherwise listless vehicle, and "The Beat Beneath My Feet" conveys all the pulse-pounding energy of a funeral procession. Oct 20, 2016 Full Review David Rooney The Hollywood Reporter Music is very definitely an essential part of [director Williams'] storytelling toolbox, which gives the movie energy even when it lacks finesse. Oct 18, 2016 Full Review Leslie Felperin Guardian It would be easier to forgive the corny, sub-Grange Hill cliches in writer-director John Williams's script if the actual music, on whose excellence the whole thing depends, was credibly catchy and not derivative tosh. Jun 14, 2015 Full Review Brian Viner Daily Mail (UK) This film is for anyone who has ever played air guitar in the privacy of their bedroom. Or maybe, like me, you used a tennis racket. Either way, it's about the nurture and realisation of an improbable dream, and it's very nicely done. Rated: 4/5 Oct 18, 2016 Full Review Jo-Ann Titmarsh HeyUGuys The Beat Beneath My Feet offers a fond reminder of why we all loved Luke and introduces a bright young talent in its lead. Oct 18, 2016 Full Review Trevor Johnston Radio Times The highlights of the entire movie are the imaginative pop-video-style sequences, which make clever use of stop-frame animation to bring the duo's songs to life. If only there was the same vim and vigour elsewhere in this otherwise plodding tale. Rated: 2/5 May 8, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

Shelby B This is effectively one of the stupidest things I've ever watched and I love it so damn much. I don't know why either. Don't watch it it sucks so bad, and I love so much. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/24 Full Review Ashley H This being one of the first movies Nicholas Galitzine has ever done, is really amazing. He can sing, play the guitar and act! The fact that they made every song scene look like a music video was very pretty. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/30/23 Full Review Markus A It's a great movie mixed with both comedy and angst, Tom is such a complex character and I can't help to see myself in him (that's both good and bad) it has a mix of romance in there but it still feels like she's her own character and don't even get me started on the singing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/14/23 Full Review isla s This is quite a fun, escapist watch. It's cheesy but it's fun - I enjoyed the various pieces of guitar based music played throughout and the central idea of a teenage kid finding out they live near a famous rock and roll star (never mind his backstory of being supposedly dead) is a fun and exciting one. It's not entirely original I suppose but its fun and I enjoyed watching it, hence my rating. Yes, I'd recommend this, if it sounds of interest. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Anyone who is into music will love this movie original songs and a relatable subject , so anyone like myself who loves music will enjoy this movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Music and teenage angst combined, and it's a fairly good story, but devoid of pace in parts.
