Mark Olsen Los Angeles Times There is something sharp, exciting and more original tucked within "The Berlin File" - and it is in moments a sleek, crackling film - but it all feels somehow misshapen. Rated: 2.5/5 Feb 15, 2013 Full Review Nicolas Rapold New York Times As soon as "The Berlin File" takes flight with its exhilarating action set pieces, memories of any muddles evaporate amid the tension and vivid engagement with settings, from courtyards to fields. Rated: 3.5/5 Feb 14, 2013 Full Review Linda Barnard Toronto Star The Berlin File benefits from gritty surroundings that add a cold war realism to this otherwise confusing tale of conflicted loyalties and secret agendas. Rated: 2/4 Feb 14, 2013 Full Review Leigh Paatsch Herald Sun (Australia) A highly underrated thriller from South Korea set in the German city of Berlin, off all places. Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 15, 2020 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Seung-wan's The Berlin File is evidence of a visual master working with a budget that allows him some breathing room for some choice sequences. Aug 7, 2019 Full Review Panos Kotzathanasis Asian Movie Pulse A visually impressive action flick in the style of "Bourne" but with very little substance Nov 3, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Raphael V This movie is great. You have a human drama wrapped in a espionage drama with an honest look at all the players - N. Korea, S. Korea, US, and Israel. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/24 Full Review Dick C I like the script in particular the husband and wife relation which involves distrust and non affection between them... It's good especially in North Korea and sometimes in dictators' countries... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/12/22 Full Review Audience Member The best Korean movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member An engrossing and entertaining spy thriller reminiscent of the classic cold war tales from Berlin, just with different international players. The North Korean/South Korean dynamic is ripe for such spy thrillers. The movie is well made, with captivating action sequences and quality pacing that keeps the audience immersed in the story. While a little complicated with all of the moving parts, the pacing slows down where appropriate to allow the audience to catch up. Although, with all of the different languages being spoken, when English is spoken by the Koreans, it can be a little difficult to understand when the subtitles are eliminated. Also, the ending shoot out sequence went on way too long in trying to create a tragic moment. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Confusing at first but should be able to figure out everything/who is who halfway in. Formulaic ending but the leads and action sequences were top notch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't get the low rating.
