Emilie Black Cinema Crazed The Book of Birdie has a peculiar story and way of telling it, creating a film that is fascinating to watch. Rated: 4.5/5 Apr 12, 2020 Full Review Sarah Musnicky Nightmarish Conjurings Overall, I found THE BOOK OF BIRDIE to be a very powerful, but slow-paced film. Sep 25, 2019 Full Review Deirdre Crimmins HighDef Digest It's actually quite refreshing to see a film regard period blood as a vehicle for some fantastic realism, rather than a sign that a character is possessed by a demon. Rated: 3/5 Oct 24, 2018 Full Review John Higgins Starburst Fans expecting jump moments and leaps out of the closet will not be satisfied by this. However, if you are looking for a more compassionate analysis of how people see the world, then there is something of appeal in the film. Rated: 7/10 Oct 23, 2018 Full Review Anton Bitel SciFiNow a beautifully designed picture-book tale of a visionary young woman struggling to find her own Order in the confusing world around her Oct 5, 2018 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Though in places it would benefit from a more coherent structure, The Book Of Birdie is a bold attempt to do something different and a fantastic showcase for the talents of a young actress with a bright future ahead of her. Audience Member This is a very well made movie, but it is a slow burn. It is not scary, per se, but it is very creepy and disturbing. There is not a lot if dialogue, and a lot of the movie's message is conveyed through symbolism that requires your attention. There are a couple of head scratching moments that, while still being on message, are still odd in their placement. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
