Dylan Scott Vox It's creepy throughout, without leaning on jump scares. Oct 19, 2018 Full Review Kate Muir Times (UK) The words "low-budget found-footage horror film" usually signal disaster... Not so for The Borderlands, which turns out to be a smart, funny and genuinely spooky movie, and British to boot. Jan 1, 2018 Full Review Stephen Dalton The Hollywood Reporter This low-budget found-footage horror debut from British director Elliot Goldner has plenty of chilling atmosphere but lacks bite. Mar 31, 2014 Full Review Iain Robertson Starburst The Borderlands is a superior entry in the genre. May 20, 2024 Full Review Paul Lê Bloody Disgusting An instant reward for found-footage enthusiasts; the ones who comb through the divisive subgenre’s catalogue in search of that one elusive and worthwhile treasure. Rated: 5/5 Apr 26, 2024 Full Review Matthew Rozsa matthewrozsa.com Call it "Final Prayer," as they do in the USA, or call it "The Borderlands," as they do everywhere else. Just don't forget to call it the best found footage horror ever! Aug 31, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

James D As a fan of found footage films, this was definitely one of the best that I've seen. It's a bit slow in the beginning, but as the plot unravels, you become more engaged and interested in the characters. This was also actually scary; it relied on tension instead of jump scares and gratuitous gore. It's one of those films that impacts you after watching, like you watched a cursed tape or something. Would recommend watching for all horror/found footage fans. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/03/24 Full Review Aaron D I enjoyed the characters chemistry, and the slow pace the movie rolled out its story with. However, the story concludes with tying up a few loose ends only to create a final moment that's more bizarre and silly than it is satisfying. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/07/24 Full Review Gregory B It's just a really bad movie. Cheesy characters, a disjointed story, and an unsatisfying conclusion that had hardly anything to do with the rest of the film. I don't get it. At all. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/18/24 Full Review Anthony M Consistently spooky as hell. Now this is how you do a found footage film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/02/24 Full Review Gabriel K It made me feel quite silly, but as well as tubular. I watched it with my bud. I appreciate the little cute creature at the conclusion. Got a wee ol' giggle out the giggler you could say. But in all seriousness, this movie was meh compared to other really good lower budget found footage horror movies I've seen in my time (I'm 13) such as Hell House LLC. (The first one (GO WATCH IT)), The Bay, The Poughkeepsie Tapes, etc. But it was still watchable, and like I sort of said in a minorly unintelligible way at the beginning of the review, I enjoyed the creature/god/monster at the end, even though there wasn't really a build to a creature more so a demon of sorts, but it's all good, and comparing it to good movies (in my opinion) doesn't feel fair due to a $750,000, which I think they took a hold of pretty well and okay for a movie like this. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/24 Full Review Darren D The Borderlands (2013/DIR: Elliot Goldner), not just one of the best British horrors, quite possibly one of the best found footage horrors. It takes it's time to give the two main protagonists their own personalities & backstories with a growing sense of respect between them, but what it does really well is slowly feeding the viewer the history within the story & the horror elements is growing sense of dread mixed with excellent sound design before leading to the claustrophobic nightmare in the final act.
