Audience Member Contrary to the opinion of the critic review so far here, this movie was not boring for me. Of course, it shouldn't be compared to today's American action movies in this regard. I had read the novel before I saw the movie, it was a great favorite reading of my youth (and it is still today) and since I am Hungarian, I have a better understanding of what it is about. In any case, the movie follows the plot of the novel surprisingly authentically, the locations are also very authentic, they take place in the same district as the plot of the book - Budapest 8th district, Józsefváros (Joseph city) - although the "grund" (the boy's playground) no longer existed at the time the movie was made because, as it turned out at the end of the movie, a large tenement house was built on it shortly after the battle for it, which is still standing there today. Foreign child actors are phenomenal, especially Anthony Kemp in the role of the tragically destined Ernő Nemecsek. I recommend the film to those who are sensitive to underlying contents such as courage, honor, righteousness, friendship. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
