King Lorenzo (Anthony Dexter) is gravely wounded in an attempted assassination. With political tensions rising, the king's advisers enlist Carlos Delargo (also Dexter), a luckless former soldier who bears a striking resemblance to Lorenzo, to pose as the king while he heals. Delargo enjoys the royal life, especially the king's fiancée, Teresa (Jody Lawrance). But, once Prince Ramón (Anthony Quinn), the king's resentful cousin, learns of the ruse, he decides to make his own bid for the throne.
