What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Brothers Grimsby showers viewers with a steady stream of Sacha Baron Cohen's edgy humor, but too many gags hit the wrong side of the line between audacious and desperate.

Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com A rambunctiously uncouth satire that's as disgusting as it is riotous. Rated: 2/4 Aug 15, 2016 Full Review Will Leitch The New Republic A couple of funny scenes, but it's amazing how quickly Sasha Baron Cohen's comedy has grown safe and stale. Rated: C May 26, 2016 Full Review Leah Pickett Chicago Reader Cohen, brilliant in his craftier and more avant-garde shock-humor roles, is too irritating to make this character likable, much less lovable as the story demands. Mar 17, 2016 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Not only does the humor fall flat and register as transparently gross-out based, but the plot is so loosely constructed that its only purpose is to propel the bawdy jokes. Rated: 0/4 Apr 18, 2022 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com The broad, adolescent-minded comedy pales in comparison to other, similarly themed recent fare. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 30, 2020 Full Review Sarah Cartland Caution Spoilers You will not be chin-scratching while watching this in the manner of someone reviewing a lost black and white epic from 1928. The only things being scratched anywhere near this filth will be someone's slightly grubby Y-fronts. And yet, and yet... Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 10, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Paul L Some laughs and a few good jokes, but its spoiled by an over-the-top absurdity that widely misses the mark. Almost unwatchable for long stretches. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/29/24 Full Review Shadow F Wow....so many people with no sense of humor. This movie is comedy freaking GOLD! The Scene with them hiding in the elephant vagina? The characters asking if anyone has seen his brother? The ending scenes with the rockets? How can so many not find this movie hilarious? Go see it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/19/24 Full Review Greg C Hilarious movie. Absolute gold! One of the best comedy films of all time!! I cannot understand why this was not a huge box office success. Totally worth your time Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/18/24 Full Review Brady W absolutely hilarious. comedy gold. 10/10. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/03/24 Full Review N N This is actually one of the funniest movies of all time… extremely underrated Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Audience Member Wasted time! The Brother's Grimsby was so embarrassingly not good. The plot line was very generic with paper thin characters. I couldn't believe the amount of star power that this movie boasted with such little result. On paper this movie should have been a laugh out loud riot but instead it goes off the rails early and fast. Now there were some scenes that did make me chuckle but they were very minimal. It's a shame because I'm a fan of raunchy fun comedies but this was so unnecessary like they were trying so hard. Please don't do what I did and just skip this one. You will thank me later. The Brothers Grimbsy gets a very low 1 1/2 stars out of 5. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/24 Full Review Read all reviews
