Rahul Desai Hollywood Reporter The subtext is easy to appreciate in hindsight. In real time, however, it feels generic. There is no dearth of tropes and gimmicks. Even the mistakes are familiar. It's hard to be original, but it's harder to be derivative, and still stay relevant. Sep 27, 2024 Full Review Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express No-nonsense Kareena Kapoor Khan revels in her Kate Winslet era, but Hansal Mehta’s film succumbs to obviousness. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 17, 2024 Full Review Devesh Sharma Filmfare The film looks like the origin story of a franchise, and given the fine beginnings, we should be prepared for more stories set in this particular pocket universe. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 20, 2024 Full Review Nandini Ramnath Scroll.in For all its provocations, The Buckingham Murders put outs a numbingly conventional take on motherhood. Although Kareena Kapoor Khan takes a big swing at a role that is a departure for her, Jasmeet turns out to be the weakest link... Sep 17, 2024 Full Review Lachmi Deb Roy Firstpost Immersive, engaging and edgy, Hansal Mehta's directorial and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer The Buckingham Murders is a must watch not only for bereaved parents, but for all. The sharp silence of the film makes it all the more gripping. Rated: 4/5 Sep 17, 2024 Full Review Renuka Vyavahare The Times of India This may not be an edge-of-your-seat, hard-hitting crime thriller as you expect it to be, but its understanding and expression of grief, isolation and repressed anger is noteworthy. Also, you won't be able to guess the killer till the end. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 17, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

James Flop movie I spent $140 for all my family drove, 40 mile Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review Chaitanya Parikh U Must watch if you are into subtle yet very effective investigative thrillers. Not your average masala loud Bollywood movies. 80% movie is in English if any foreign folks want to check it out. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/15/24 Full Review Nilanjan K Stupid movie and concept, some good performances though. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/15/24 Full Review Sharang L Starts strongly but loses its way very soon. Can't believe Hansal Mehta directed this half-baked whodunnit. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review MTB M Awful acting.Low quality actors . Terrible cheap story line . Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/13/24 Full Review Shailendra K The Buckingham Murders has all the ingredients to be a great murder mystery - a character study of a troubled mentally troubled and broken down detective trying to rise from the ashes of a personal tragedy and solve a murder of a child in a community with multiple hidden secrets. Unfortunately even though the main actors give good performances and the story is good but the screenplay is slow and doesn't engage the audience as well as it could have. The highlight of the movie is the acting of Kareena Kapoor who nails her character and gives a performance with real gravitas. The surprise of the movie is the performance given by Celebrity Chef Ranveer Brar which is pretty good. All the other actors are pretty much in the background, a bit mediocre and dont really deliver anything exceptional. Their performances have a feel of an episode of the many slow burn British Crime Dramas on telly and that is exactly what the movie feels like.....a two parter episode of Midsomer Murders, Happy Valley, Unforgotten etc. It is only Kareena's performance that keeps the audience hooked to the screen. The mystery slowly keeps taking some weird turns as the various secrets get uncovered but the pace at which the movie drags on isn't enough to keep the viewer excited. The end result is a decent murder mystery with a mostly slow and boring run time to get to an interesting and difficult to guess ending. The only reason to watch the movie is Kareena's performance if you are a fan otherwise watch it in tandem with one of your favorite British detective dramas, it wont be at the same level of quality but will still fit in well. Nice made for TV drama but disappointing as a movie by such a reputable director like Hansal Mehta starring a mainstream star like Kareena Kapoor. 6/10 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/11/24 Full Review Read all reviews
