Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald Cameron may be an expert when it comes to creating visual magic but images aren't everything. Words do matter. Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 22, 2017 Full Review Guy Lodge Variety The heart-in-hand sincerity of its worldview is what makes the film endearing and aggravating by turns. Aug 26, 2017 Full Review Harry Windsor Hollywood Reporter This rather underpowered tale of sexual awakening and grief proceeds at a leisurely pace before a couple of late scenes that strive to outdo each other for sheer melodramatic overreach. Aug 23, 2017 Full Review Andrew Murray The Upcoming It may look like a vibrant and heartfelt story, but its colourful façade masks an empty and deeply uncomfortable situation. Rated: 2/5 Feb 9, 2021 Full Review Peter Gray The AU Review Given how lush Priscilla Cameron's debut feature The Butterfly Tree appears, it's a real shame that the material at hand doesn't match its aesthetic. Rated: 2/5 Feb 15, 2020 Full Review Jason Best Movie Talk Cameron strives for a quirky magic realism that she can't quite pull off. The leads are all fine, and some of the photography achieves an iridescent wonder. But the film's plotting is messy and its tone uneven. Mar 11, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Not the best to be honest :( Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Melodramatic crud. Far too slow, a soap opera script and a predictable storyline. The actors didn't stand a chance and I'm sure they tried their best. Wouldn't waste my time unless you need to properly understand what "boring" is. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I saw this with no idea what it was about, just that it has cool colors and butterflies in it. This movie will confuse, bewilder, and entice you to imagine things you never could expect. It's not linear in the way you'd think, it's all over the place but shows us that everyone has their own life and it's never just about you. The brilliance of this movie is it's unique acceptance of all the crazy things people do or think, their stupidity and their charm. Worth watching once, don't think just experience it.
