In the midst of a recession, Matt (Peter Gallagher) and his former girlfriend, Cathy (Joan Cusack), both Wall Street stockbrokers, try to stay afloat despite their increasingly uncontrollable careers. A number of disturbing run-ins with two seemingly homeless men -- Dr. Ramirez (Ron Vawter) and his sidekick, Cesar (Mikhail Baryshnikov) -- begin to chip away at Matt's sanity. Determined to discover who they really are, his curiosity leads him to Dr. Ramirez's cult headquarters.
