Police Chief Paul Lanigan (Art Carney) battles crime in a small town, aided by his friend Rabbi David Small (Bruce Solomon). The duo investigate the source of gunfire in a home occupied by two brothers. The older, a reclusive miser, has been shot and killed, while the younger has injured himself in a fall after trying to pursue the mysterious shooter.
