      Critics Consensus

Some horror fans and '80s enthusiasts may answer The Call, although a lack of genuine scares and an overload of genre tropes will leave most struggling to maintain the connection.

Suzan L Soooooo bad. I fought the urge to walk out. Bad horror films are being released during Covid-19 and this was one of them. I was the only one in the theatre. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/15/21 Full Review Jennifer It was a satisfying horror movie. Very suspenseful and great affects. The acting was better than most lately also. Could've had a stronger plot with the individual characters' stories, but overall a good movie! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/25/20 Full Review Jeff It was okay, couple jump scares. Wasn’t bad though just kinda boring. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/25/20 Full Review Josh T Pretty good movie but can very easily tell it was impacted by COVID-19. Kind of predictable storyline but still a good movie with Tobin Bell. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/19/20 Full Review Erroll Brown I couldn't catch my movie and you wouldn't refund me my money. That's bad business had a family emergency now I'm out of 20 bucks. Then it's no way to get in contact with anybody if you have a issue that needs resolved Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/18/20 Full Review JE Could have been better Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/15/20 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Leslie Felperin Guardian A fairly shonky assemblage of tired tropes, full of dropped connections and annoying static. Rated: 2/5 Jan 5, 2021 Full Review Jennifer Bisset CNET The Call is verdant, inventive, sophisticated storytelling that leaves you buzzing... Apr 6, 2023 Full Review Joel Fisher Battle Royale With Cheese The Call is far more interested in its visuals than telling a coherent and compelling story. Sep 30, 2021 Full Review Grant Watson Fiction Machine A curate's egg that, while entertaining in fits and starts, never comes together as a whole. Rated: 6/10 Aug 24, 2021 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film An entertaining ride for horror fans which benefits from great production design, The Call uses its clichés for a purpose and has fun along the way. Rated: 3/5 Jul 23, 2021 Full Review Frank Swietek One Guy's Opinion A highly derivative horror movie lifted from utter mediocrity by a couple of veteran genre stars and some eye-catching nightmare sequences.
