The movie just wasn't that scary. The plot was clever and it had the perfect setting for a horror film, but it just never really found its footing.

A girl seeks to save her douchebag boyfriend from the terrors of a rundown Thai hotel. There's a cool/creepy monster-child, but that's about all this movie had going for it.

The Pang Brothers continue to show they've lost the inventiveness and creativity that made earlier flicks like the original The Eye and Re-Cycle so enjoyable with this generic and silly ghost story set in a decrepit Thailand hotel.

The Pang brothers are master directors, but there are two incredibly odd shots where they have objects obscuring the people. Decent haunted hotel movie with a cool depiction of Chinese Hell. It's a far cry from career highlights Bangkok Dangerous and The Eye, but fans of Asian ghost movies should dig it.

This Hong Kong horror film from the Pang Brothers (The Eye, Re-Cycle, The Messengers) features the visionary imagery and mise-en-scene of their best films, but it never quite coheres into great horror film. I did not see the film in 3D, so some its obvious 3D scenes no doubt lost some of their effect. The Pang Brothers manage to create some truly creepy and visionary imagery, but the film often feels stale and unengaging in between these memorable moments.
