Matt Brunson Film Frenzy In the live-action The Chronicles of Riddick, Riddick is part of the problem: An intriguing character when kept in the shadows for much of Pitch Black, he’s become infinitely less interesting as an out-and-out action hero, losing all sense of mystery. Rated: 1.5/4 Oct 10, 2024 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins The animation style suits the storyline, with the anime versions of familiar roles nicely adapted from their three-dimensional counterparts. Rated: 5/10 Sep 29, 2020 Full Review Adam Tierney IGN Movies Ultimately, the film is a safe, engineered bridge between the first and second Riddick films, without the ambition of either. Rated: 5/10 Jun 8, 2020 Full Review Nick Rogers Midwest Film Journal The overlying message of Dark Fury seems to say "Be the mange you want to see in this world." Too bad too few of the films featuring the Riddick character really embodied that kooky kernel of wisdom. Gabriel L Well, the story runs with some unexpected feeling when Riddick and his crew get captured. Besides the short time of the film (33 mins),the sequel give us a good sample of action and sci-fi worthy of it's bigger brothers of the saga. The antagonist Junner and Chillingsworth are kind of psyco-elite ecosystem gangsters around the galaxy with a disturbing manners. Maybe the design of the big vessel is not so proper even for an animated movie, remembering that is a big museum of sideral criminals. The action sequences are fine but short, with 45 mins the aftermath will be better. The score from machine head fits well in this episode of original ideas and deep space insanity. For those who love the story of the most famous furyan in the universe is a must see. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/01/25 Full Review Devils A A new type of animation makes this movie go and works, which makes it beautiful to watch, and this new type of animation begins with Dark Fury, thus my *4* star rating!!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/18/22 Full Review robert p It does do more than be a bridge between two movies, as it provides some continuity. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member An excellent addition to the Riddick story, and amazing animation, direction, and story telling. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/19 Full Review Jacob B This is probably the only other mini-adventure I'll review. Don't expect this to be a common occurrence. This half-hour animated short serves as merely a prelude to The Chronicles of Riddick. Nothing less, nothing more. The art style is enjoyable, the action is awesome and Peter Chung does a good job faithfully recreating the likenesses of the characters from Pitch Black with the voice acting helping us really believe that this indeed is an animated version of Vin Diesel. There's not much to say about this movie since it doesn't even reach the required 40-minute runtime to be considered "feature-length" but I wish this actually was a full-length motion picture since some of it is actually quite cinematic. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/19 Full Review Bill D This is a poor effort to fill in gaps in the Riddick story line. The animation and David Twohy's writing are unimpressive.
