A dying tycoon, Max (Fernando Fernán Gómez), undergoes cancer treatment in a Paris hospital. His wife, Marie (Geraldine Chaplin), and his estranged son, Victor (Leonardo Sbaraglia), are with him at his bedside. This is significant considering that Victor hasn't seen his father in a long time. The delirious Max confides in his son, much to the disapproval of others, and asks Victor to help him escape. He also tells him about his dark past, as if attempting to clear his conscience before death.
