Wonderfully tragic narrative giving insight into French colonial politics and human nature. See more 08/08/2010 Interesting French-made moral fable about the army's role in the Algerian war. See more 04/04/2010 Real nice movie. Some of the scenes are a tribute to the "Battle of Algiers". The plot is quite simple the young officer dilemna between consciousness and efficiency. The movie then mix several characters, Massu, Hélie de Saint-Marc, Aussarés, Trinquier, Teitgen, Bigeard etc... Stories close to famous cases like Audain are in the background.
