Joe Leydon Variety I laughed unashamedly throughout the entire film. But your mileage may vary. Mar 5, 2025 Full Review Kevin Maher Times (UK) The Coen brothers would have worked wonders here, but the director and co-writer George Gallo (he co-wrote Bad Boys) drives everything into increasingly silly sight gags... Rated: 2/5 Jun 22, 2021 Full Review Stephen Romei The Australian I won't risk calling this movie a miracle, but if this year has left you in desperate need of a good laugh, look no further. Rated: 4/5 Nov 21, 2020 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Amid its parade of stale and cartoonish gags, the film’s awkward attempt to pay tribute to a bygone Hollywood era is peppered with references to big-screen classics we’d rather be watching. Feb 21, 2025 Full Review Kevin Carr Fat Guys at the Movies The star-studded cast can’t save this incompetent would-be comedy that doesn’t even understand how movies are made. Rated: 0.5/4 Jan 7, 2023 Full Review Jane Freebury The Canberra Times (Australia) It's my hunch that the original was marginally more rewarding because expectations would have been lower without big name stars who agreed, for some reason or another, to take part in this remake. Jon Really enjoyed the movie. Seeing all those big stars together was iconic plus also enjoyed Zack Braff and the girl that played Megan. All in all, it was a lot of fun more like movies from 20 years ago Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/25 Full Review Steve K unwatchable. do anything else Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/25 Full Review Craig M Wow....so much to unpack. The movie has so much promise and a great premise and the cast is littered with Oscar winners. Why didn't it work? Well it "kinda" does. Some of the jokes are very, very funny. Robert DeNiro chews scenery and comes close to over-acting but doesn't. I worship at the alter of DeNiro I find him in fine form here.....Morgan Freeman, Tommy Lee Jones, Zach Braf and Emile Hirsh all do their best and give spot on performances...HOWEVER this movie is sabotaged by an uneven script, editing that lacks timing and flow and this movie has a score that is SO BAD it detracts from the dialogue. As a matter of fact it feels like this movie wasn't scored at all and they just got random music form YouTube. It's really that bad. The cinematography is uneven too. Some shots are gorgeous and well crafted, and many seem like they were shot on an iphone. I didn't realize until after I viewed this film that it was a remake of a "cult classic." That said, I am going to watch that now and see what that's all about. Bottom line If you love DeNiro or Tommy Lee Jones.....WATCH THIS you'll enjoy most of it. If you have OCD and bad editing and horrible music bothers you. I'd pass. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/19/25 Full Review Mike C I really enjoyed this movie. It was funny and heart felt, I would watch it again. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review Courtney C Very funny. Dark and charming. The story was fun, stellar cast and the jokes are in the dark comedy realm. Honestly I think I'm just as bad as the men because I think the film "Killer Nuns" would be awesome to see in theaters. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/09/25 Full Review bob h The opening sequence is hilarious. It really captures the craziness of those 1970's "Grindhouse" movies. I know because I was a part of that scene. The cast is great and it is worth a watch. Ultimately it is pretty one note and not as funny as it could have been. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/07/25 Full Review Read all reviews
