Time Out A deafening sonic yawn signs off this desperate finale to Universal's Arthur Hailey-inspired quartet of in-flight entertainments. Sep 7, 2010 Full Review Janet Maslin New York Times Aeronautically and otherwise, it's a bumpy trip. Rated: 2/5 Sep 7, 2010 Full Review Variety Staff Variety Unintentional comedy still seems the Airport series' forte, although excellent special effects work, and some decent dramatics help Concorde take off. Sep 7, 2010 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...a satisfying capper to a remarkably consistent series of films. Rated: 3/4 Feb 22, 2023 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy [UPDATED 2024 REVIEW] The Concorde... Airport '79 is not only the worst picture in the Airport series, it might be the worst of all '70s disaster flicks (and that's really saying something). Rated: 1/4 Jul 9, 2016 Full Review Jo Berry Radio Times It's very silly, but the starry cast (Robert Wagner, Sylvia Kristel, Eddie Albert) manages to be as over-the-top as the effects, making this a fun if incredibly mindless way to spend a couple of hours. This is one of the most ridiculous stories ever written. Instead of killing the girl with the damaging report when he had every opportunity to in Paris, he decides to kill an entire plane full of innocent people? Felt I wasted my time and wouldn't have watched had it not been rated so highly. In addition, why did the girl have to wait until she gets to Moscow to send the documents. She was in Paris!!!! There was time to do that. Without any investigation into why the Concorde was attacked not once but twice while in flight, it simply takes off again right away. Unbelievably stupid movie!!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/24/23 Full Review Audience Member speaking of a disaster, that is what this film was. The acting was terrible and the plot was even worse. Just like other people said, this was the worst of all the disaster films. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolutely unbelievable. The special effects we're pretty much on par for the time. The plot is so so. Cute girl discovers corporate deception and a hit is put out on her life. however the concept is completely unbelievable. The Concorde is chased by f4 phantoms? And a drone miss? And then heat seeking missles are attracted to a flare gun fired from the cockpit at twice the speed of sound?? Just ridiculous. Snakes on a plane was more believable....save yourself the trouble. Kind of a shame as the first two airport movies weren't all that bad. Maybe Dean Martin should have been the recurring role and not George Kennedy, who in my opinion was a terrible actor. He reminds me of the 1970s white version of Samuel Jackson. Constantly screaming his lines especially when not necessary. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Who cares about the odd special effect miss-function. This film is glorious. Amazing Concorde shots. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Wouldn't be surprise if this purely campy, dull, nonsensical cinematic equivalent of darts, with horrible aim, is secretly a factor of persuasion that pushed the recall of the titular line of flight besides crash landing the once-impressive franchise after the validated loss of altitude. (C+) Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member It usually says a lot about a movie when it's the one to kill a franchise. The lamest, weakest effort of the series. It goes into real jump-the-shark territory, yet ends up being pretty boring and laughable. Still, there's some fun moments with the cast, and a couple effective action shots.
