Although director Zoe Lister-Jones has forged a new path for the weirdos of today, The Craft: Legacy's spells may only enchant fans of the original.

Adam Graham Detroit News What doesn't work in 90-odd minutes would fare better laid bare in an eight-episode series. Gee, where's that spell when you need it? Rated: C+ Nov 2, 2020 Full Review Peter Travers ABC News Though this horror sequel about a coven of teen witches wastes time on delivering shocks instead of developing character, the feminist fire of filmmaker Zoe Lister-Jones sees to it that there's more here than a Halloween throwaway. Oct 30, 2020 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com There's magic being performed by this quartet of young witches. Rated: 3/4 Oct 30, 2020 Full Review Travis Johnson Mr. Movie's Film Blog We could have had a new, updated, femme-fantasy future cult classic. Instead, we have this forgettable mess. Aug 8, 2021 Full Review Rhian Daly NME (New Musical Express) The original film relied heavily on special effects, but The Craft: Legacy eschews visual gimmickry for character development. Rated: 3/5 Jun 17, 2021 Full Review Steven Warner In Review Online There's a welcome female sensibility and perspective to this new version ...The problem is that most of it is so on-the-nose as to induce snickering. Darren D I can respect the film for trying to be it's own thing & Cailee Spaeny was clearly the best part about this, but as for the rest of "The Craft: Legacy", sadly there's so much wrong with it. Uninspiring story & the uninteresting characters, the movie gives off the feeling it wants to comment on number of social issues yet doesn't commit as it comes off like a social media user who only knows key words to feel triggered by, while lacking any meaning behind the words. Our group of witches are so say social outcasts at their school, but it's never said or shown why, so they just appear more as there own little friend group like any high school. David Duchovny is just there to play a knock off Jordan Peterson, which just leads to an ending of the story's villain lacking any actual build up or mystery. It's a last minute rushed job when it finally happens then it jumps to the next scene like nothing has happened. Before I forget, a sarcastic congratulations for trying to force it to have some connection to the far better original which holds up a lot more. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/06/25 Full Review Dave F A surprisingly good teen-girl supernatural movie, appropriately rated PG-13, unfortunately marketed as a “horror movie”, likely because of it being a Blumhouse production. Fixes many things that were problematic in the original film’s portrayal of neo-paganism, while leaning in to being a story about teenaged girls that is actually directed at an audience of teen girls. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/10/24 Full Review Jonathan O This legacy ruined the original 1996 The Craft there's no magic the characters are not loveable and the writing is awful and really really disrespectful post credit scene. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/02/24 Full Review Chas J The characters are annoying af. This movie is garbage. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/11/24 Full Review Audience Member crazy and not in a good way Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/24 Full Review mor c No está mal la forma en la que tocan los temas pero se siente tan literal que resulta paródico y muchas partes se sienten como solo fanservice por la película de los 90 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/29/24 Full Review Read all reviews
