Josh Bell Crooked Marquee Somewhere in here is an innocuous message about tolerance and harmony, but it's buried under the tone-deaf dialogue, sloppy historical detail and flat performances. Rated: C- Feb 9, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Tra-Lynn H I think it was based on real life stories of slavery, abuse, interacial forbidden love and heart break. This movie had me captivated, in tears for the abuse suffered by the white females in chauvinistic south along with the abuse of people as black slave field workers and the amount of suffering, restrictions imposed upon them for the basic normal actions of falling in love as not just black couple slaves but interacial love that proved to show the truly low depths white men would go to feel superior to every black person but even his white wife was from a trade of marriage and females and blacks treated badly as white wealthy men control and abuse them all. What people have to understand is that even today chauvinism is still a thing women are still thought to be beneath 75% of men in the South and that mentality is still present. It's terrible how especially in the South African Americans still face challenges, but so do women whether white or black ..... it's about rich white men being raised to still act in this manner as the last of ny fathers generation is dying off and so is this mentality. Our next generation mat still be getting taught this by some white souther families, however it's a smaller percentage as each generation is born and raised to be more excepting, open to love everyone no matter the color of their skin. This was a great movie of education and impact hopefully changing movie watchers for the better after seeing this movie(or reading the book it's based on). Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/06/23 Full Review Desiree C Great characters excellent performances a must see historical film heartwarming! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/26/23 Full Review Raul E Truly bad cinema. Rotten script, rotten acting, rotten premise. A truly horrible experience. Oh man, was it bad. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/23/23 Full Review Michael D The acting was lost somewhere between a high-school play, and something rejected by Ed Wood. Historically, it was somewhere between Uncle Tom's Cabin and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The characters were flat, most of the scenes just as flat, and the plot and dialog seems written by a teenage, historically-confused wannabe writer. The scenery was nice, though. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/13/23 Full Review B J This was a great movie. It was raw about the trauma of the past in the south and the aggression against slaves and women yet focused on the message of how to move forward with love for the world and not hate. While parts of hit were predictable the overall storyline was very believable and the acting was good. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this movie. I cried tears of terrible sadness and i cried tears of joy. What a story with a lovely ending. Knowing our history at times is so painful and shameful but luckily we have come away stronger. I love the story line. Don't let anyone divide us. We are all God's children. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
