Kambole Campbell SciFiNow Both The Death Of Superman and Reign Of The Supermen are occasionally fun, but inessential entries in the animated DC canon, bringing nothing new to a pretty uninspiring story. Jan 16, 2019 Full Review Cath Clarke Guardian After the operatic grandiosity of the live-action movies, this street-level crimefighting is a nostalgic treat. Rated: 3/5 Jan 14, 2019 Full Review Rich Phippen HeyUGuys It's an adaptation that should please the fans and is arguably one of the best Superman movies since Richard Donner was fired, but it's lack of focus won't win too many over. Rated: 3/5 Jun 5, 2019 Full Review Fico Cangiano CineXpress Reign of Supermen is a worthy follow-up to the superior The Death of Superman. Good in action, but lacking in emotion. Rated: 3/5 Feb 5, 2019 Full Review Rob Vaux Sci-Fi Movie Page It's a solid piece of storytelling, inspired by a beloved chapter in the Man of Steel's comics history, and it captures the right mood for the story in a tight little package. Audience Member Great movie better than I expected! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Late R Not quite as good as its predecessor (The Death of Superman) and over-stuffed with bits and pieces (and characters) that aren't really as captivating as one would hope for, but it's still a solid entry into DC's animated universe with enough action and heroic moments to satisfy, even if it does lack emotion, for the most part, and often feels like you're just waiting around for a specific event to happen. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/10/19 Full Review Audience Member definitely worth watching if you love superman Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I will say although Reign of the Supermen strays a lot farther from the comics and kinda does it's own thing. It has enough of the spirit of the comics with it's own mix to come out pretty dang good. Continuing off from The Death of Superman (2018) we find ourselves in a world that is still trying to cope with the loss of the Man of Steel (Jerry O'Connell). Several faux Supermen arrive on the scene and take over. We have Steel (Cress Williams) who is really John Henry Irons and has made himself a Steel Suit with technology to fight crime and save people in need. Superboy (Cameron Monaghan) who is a clone of Superman made by Lex Luthor (Rainn Wilson) who is part of a much grander scheme for Lex. The Eradicator (Charles Halford) a very violent Superman that takes no prisoners. Then finally a mysterious Cyborg like Superman that seems the most like the original, but he himself has a very dark past, Not buying any of this Lois Lane (Rebecca Romijn) set's off to uncover the truth of who all these new Supermen are. Meanwhile the evil Darkseid (Tony Todd) has his own plans for Planet Earth. I enjoyed this one quite a bit like I said. It has some great animation, a very cool story that has a good pacing and the action is well done. I really have always liked Superboy and in this version he still has that coolness factor (they even have him spouting some 90's references as a call back to the original comic run). This is a nice end cap to the Death of Superman and while it isn't exactly like it I enjoyed this take a lot and recommend giving it a look.
