Frank J. Avella Edge Media Network Devil in the Deep is highly recommended for a quartet of queer and queer-friendly stars, as well as an intense finale that is early filmmaking at its finest. Rated: A- Oct 26, 2021 Full Review Pare Lorentz Vanity Fair I can advise you that with The Devil and The Deep an actress heralded by press and press agents alike as the greatest actress since Duse, has let them down once and for all. nick s Some of the acting/direction at the start of the film felt a little stagey, but it settled down into quite an entertaining story. The commanders actions might seem far fetched, but I know there are parellels to his behaviour in the aviation industry. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/27/23 Full Review Steve D It really hasn't held up besides the acting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/03/23 Full Review kevin w Well here's an unusual piece of film melodrama and Charles Laughton's introduction to U.S. audiences. He plays a popular (if insanely jealous) submarine captain certain that his wife, the ever sultry Tallulah Bankhead, is fiddling about. Is it with Cary Grant? Gary Cooper? Somehow it all leads to a daring escape from a sunken submarine! You haven't seen the like of this before, interesting for it's illogical turns. And Ms. Bankhead's usual and ever-so-casual "I know, you want me, so what else is new?" performance, of course. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
