Edward Grief Motion Picture Daily Aside from the fact that there is a genuine effort to portray the principal characters as dignified human beings, there is little to recommend the film. Jan 26, 2021 Full Review George Spires Motion Picture Herald (Exhibitors Herald) The theme and setting are introduced in a fresh manner by devoting the first fifteen minutes of the 65 to a travelogue of Jamaica. Jan 26, 2021 Full Review Film Daily Staff The Film Daily Picture has a scanty plot and action is only fair. Jan 26, 2021 Full Review Mark H. Audience Member Some more voodoo in this all-Black cast film which takes place in Jamaica. Recent transplants from Harlem arrive to take control of a plantation which they recently inherited, but the locals use fake-vooodoo in attempt to get them to leave. A drama with a bit of horror, Hamtree Harrington is the comedy relief, much in the same respect as those roles commonly played by Mantan Moreland and Willie Best. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a ridiculous movie, I didn't know or care about what was going on at all. I recommend staying away from this movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member This all African American mystery suffers from a low budget and some acting that is less than stellar by most but a couple of the actors are pretty good. The setting is a plus. It's okay, historically significant as well. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
