Donald Clarke Irish Times An impressive oddity that deserves its renown. Rated: 4/5 Apr 26, 2019 Full Review Mike McCahill Guardian With admirable economy the Tohills and screenwriter Stuart Drennan establish a stand-off between men in small, dark holes who have sublimated all feeling into obsessive, possibly futile activity. Rated: 3/5 Apr 25, 2019 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety There's a whole lot of digging, but not much suspense or interest dug up in "The Dig." Sep 27, 2018 Full Review Alan Zilberman Washington City Paper Although the high melodrama ultimately betrays the deliberate middle section, this is a film that takes themes of redemption and forgiveness seriously. Feb 28, 2020 Full Review Roe McDermott Hot Press The poetic potential and emotional complexity get lost - but it's still an intriguing idea, marking an auspicious start to the Tohill brothers' career. May 1, 2019 Full Review Jemma Strain Film Ireland Magazine Although The Dig may not fulfil the plot-heavy murder mystery category that some people may hope for, the premise is both novel and consuming. CHRIS M Intense. And interesting premise taken from the "Troubles" in Northen Ireland except modified to be non-sectarian. Plot makes senses and there is valid exploration of effects of violent crime on families of the victim. The end sucks though, no other way to put it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/01/24 Full Review mark d Slow moving, but moving nonetheless. A dark tale featuring great acting. As bleak as you'd expect, considering the plot. Worth a watch for sure. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent movie. A brilliant cast of great actors/actresses Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Powerful yet understated, beautifully shot and acted. Also very interesting period peace of pre-war England. Thoroughly enjoyed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Bill Your review will help others decide whether to watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/21 Full Review Audience Member Thought it was good a few holes in the story and an unsatisfying ending but worth the watch Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews
