Michał Oleszczyk Chicago Sun-Times Visually, there's an elegance to "The Door" that feels both a virtue and a limitation. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 21, 2013 Full Review Philippa Hawker The Age (Australia) There's something quite haunting about the relationship between the two women: in some surprising ways, this is a determinedly unsentimental work. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 18, 2012 Full Review Blake Howard 2UE That Movie Show Only cinemagoers who've enjoyed the cringe-worthy cine-sadism of watching train wrecks like Tommy Wiseau's The Room and Plan 9 from Outer Space could and should embrace this turd. Rated: 0/5 Jul 23, 2012 Full Review Jim Schembri 3AW Without make up or any adornments, the haggard Helen Mirren cooks, cleans and growls her way through this intimate, well-handled two-hander opposite the equally able Martina Gedeck. Rated: 3/5 Jul 20, 2012 Full Review Josh Forward Trespass This film is a failure on a catastrophic level. Jul 18, 2012 Full Review Julian Wood FILMINK (Australia) An absorbing and complex character drama, but one that's difficult to connect to at times. Jul 18, 2012 Full Review Read all reviews

Frances M This movie was amazing with incredible acting by Helen Mirren and the cast. It was REAL and all about the lives of one who has suffered, but endured by her own creed. I could not believe the low rating and poor reviews, but I guess these people have never really lived or even know what it means to be alive. i feel sorry for them. In any case, this film will stay with me for a very long time. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/18/24 Full Review Robert A I cannot believe some of the reviews I read. This is a good movie, well written and well acted. Yes, it is slightly quirky, but a mystery well made and a story well told. Helen Mirren is outstanding in her role. Definitely recommended. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/17/24 Full Review Sue S Such appalling acting by all concerned. I can't believe Helen Mirren could give such a wooden performance. It was like watching Amateur dramatics or a school play. I watched about half but in the end gave up as it wasn't worth wasting my life on it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/02/23 Full Review Alexandra H I found this movie very engaging. I enjoyed watching the characters, and learning what 1960's & 70's Hungary was like. I also liked the little flavor of other-worldliness that sometimes peeps through. Overall, very enjoyable and worth seeing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Gorgeous movie, beautiful performances by all cast members, beautiful soundtrack with great performances by Hungarian musicians of pieces by Robert Schumann. Very moving story of relationships, and also how people cope with having been treated brutally, having become brutalized themselves, but still maintain their humanity in spite of their deep bitterness and resentments. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Super dumb movie. Don't waste your time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
