Woven with references to Greek mythology, The Drowned follows three thieves who have just stolen a priceless painting and arrive at a secluded safe house by the sea, only to discover their fourth accomplice is missing. They must question whether one of them was responsible for her disappearance, or if the blame lies with a more sinister presence lurking in the deep water below.

Abbie Bernstein Assignment X Present-day art thieves vs. mythological horror. Rated: B Oct 13, 2025 Full Review Kat Hughes THN Its story may be a tad predictable, the journey however, has a couple of good surprises along the way. Rated: 3/5 Oct 8, 2025 Full Review Heidi Krull MovieJawn The Drowned, Samuel Clemens’s debut feature film, features alluring sirens, intriguing mystery, and art heists all in one, but it leaves a lot up in the air with its lack of concrete storytelling. Oct 6, 2025 Full Review Karina Adelgaard Heaven of Horror Clearly, there is some passion and talent there, but also a need to work on keeping things interesting and to better manage pacing. Rated: 2/5 Oct 6, 2025 Full Review Kevin Wight The Wee Review If Samuel Clemens can bring more storytelling drive – and a more ruthless approach to scriptwriting – to some undeniable technical flair, his next project could be a winner. As a debut however, The Drowned frustrates more than it engages. Rated: 2 Oct 4, 2025 Full Review Martin Unsworth Starburst The film’s images and brooding sound design will linger long after the story is over, and the melding of myth and metaphysical will give fans plenty to debate. Melissa W In an era where audiences love to watch films both sincerely and ironically, The Drowned manages to hit that rare sweet spot: it works no matter what mood you’re in, and that’s exactly what makes it so watchable. Anchored by bankable names like the Clemens bros, Lemon, and the rest of the ensemble, the film carries an addictive charm. You find yourself leaning in, wanting to decode the world that Sam, George, Agam, and their team have created. Edward Patrick White’s score lingers long after the credits roll, in the best possible way. There’s an unmistakable spark here, the kind of energy cult classics are born from. Honestly? I’d buy it as a Christmas gift, and then follow the filmmakers on socials, because if The Drowned is any indication, their next trend-setting move is absolutely worth keeping an eye on. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/20/25 Full Review Audience Member Haunting, everything in this piece is haunting. The sudden movements, the twists and turns and the music are all frightening and captivating. I can often tell what's coming next and long before a movie is over I've figured out 'who done it' or why 'it' was done. Yet, this I found unpredictable, which keep me on the edge of my seat. The acting was extremely well done and the voices, the ghost like voices, what a great effect! Well done! This is a must see! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/13/25 Full Review Herba G This was a nice surprise. After spending hours trying to choose a film, I finally decided to give this one a go. It grabbed my attention straight away and kept me engaged right to the end. It had an old-school horror feel to it that I really liked. I wouldn't be surprised to see The Drowned 2 at some point. I hope so. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/04/25 Full Review Robyn C So glad I watched this during the day and not before bed! It had my nervous system firing all over the place 😆 it's beautifully shot, well written and has great performances. The music particularly got under my skin. If you like thrillers, dive in! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/22/25 Full Review Natalie K Haunting, sexy and intense. Very engaging. Great actors, well directed and awesome cinematography. Loved it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/18/25 Full Review Ariadna H I found the movie very interesting. The mix of modern-day heist and ancient Greek mythology actually works! The visuals are amazing, and the suspense just has this fantastic slow burn feeling, which is way better than relying on cheap scares. You should definitely check it out.
