Geoffrey Macnab Independent (UK) Johnson is a modern-day renaissance man who'll be quoting William Blake one moment and belting out some R&B with Roger Daltrey the next. Rated: 4/5 Jul 23, 2015 Full Review Mark Kermode Observer (UK) Talking to Temple, Johnson seems like a man whose eyes have been opened for the first time, finally relishing the experience of life on Earth. Rated: 4/5 Jul 19, 2015 Full Review Jessica Kiang The Playlist It's a film that constantly brings us to the brink of revelation but pulls up some way short, be it through the rather indifferent shooting style, the sometimes unilluminating choice of clips and illustration. Rated: B- Jul 17, 2015 Full Review Ben Nicholson CineVue This is a moving portrait of a remarkable man, which is at its most effective when it just lets him speak. Rated: 3/5 Apr 5, 2019 Full Review Nick Hasted The Arts Desk It's a strange, thought-provoking tale. Rated: 4/5 Nov 22, 2017 Full Review Evan Rodriguez Austin American-Statesman For fans of a type of extended visual spirituality threaded with a philosophy of mild nihilism and hope, it is recommended. Audience Member 100% positive reviews from the critics and rightly so!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I knew little of Wilko Johnson and Dr Feelgood apart from they were all from Canvey Island. I did know of his diagnosis of less than a year to live. I had no idea though that the impact of that diagnosis could be so uplifting. An incredible doc somewhat dreamlike but thankfully with a happy ending (if ending is the right word). Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Documentary film about the legendary guitarist who was diagnosed with terminal cancer and told it to piss off. So positive, so brave. Incredible story. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful, Surreal and life affirming film. As the great man says at the end, "Why can't we just dig what we've got and stop hurting one another?" Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member The Ecstasy Of Wilko Johnson is an entertaining, interesting and heartfelt documentary revolving around the cancer scare of the Dr Feelgood guitarist. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Well crafted and revealing layers upon layers of information on an extraordinary person.
