The storyline is predictable, the characters make stupid choices, and the movie is a bit long, but despite that, the makeup, practical & special effects, and emotive performances all combine for a visually gross and emotionally exciting narrative.

Once it gets going, The Elixir never lets up the pace, powering along through a sea of guts and gore with some hugely imaginative and genuinely spectacular high octane sequences even as it rarely loses sight of the character beats set up in the first act.

So much about the production, execution, and vision of The Elixir is great, despite its main flaw. The problem is simply that this particular flaw happens to be a cardinal sin of zombie movies: characters don't behave realistically.

It's mostly serving up scares. But they're effective scares, and because the film gives each character enough room to grow and doesn't punish them for having flaws, the result is an engaging and enjoyable entry in the zombie horror genre.

Don’t waste your time on this. The characters don’t just lack common sense—they behave like they’ve never interacted with another human being or faced a real‑world situation in their lives. Every decision they make feels forced, illogical, and written purely to drag the plot forward, no matter how ridiculous it becomes. Instead of tension, you get irritation. Instead of suspense, you get nonsense. By the end, it’s less a movie and more an endurance test in watching people make the dumbest choices imaginable.

Cinematography? Great. Makeup and prosthetics? Amazing. Characters? Meh. Storyline? Fucking hideous. This is an overall good movie but got ruined for it's bad script. Who was the scriptwriter? Did they have no help or something? most action they did was just absolute foolishness, although it is understandable that they are probably anxious about the happening... but not using the bazooka? That's pure dumb, what the hell.

Zombie + setting + premise + acting was damn good. DAMN GOOD!! But all went to hell with those dumb characters. Really, all shitty decision just to keep the plot going. One of the 'could have been a hit' but turned into one of the biggest disappointment in a zombie movie. All efforts wasted with those dumb decision makings. Try watching it and you'll understand.

This movie was genuinely one of the best zombie movies I've seen in a while, the storyline, the plot, the intense scenes were just all perfect, the starting was a little bit slower but they made up for it, I was also expecting them to show a more bigger picture of the world or the country and they should've showed the characters escaping their town like them escaping to the city or encountering zombies in the train but apart from this, this movies is a must watch even chaacter development was also good
