Betsy Sharkey Los Angeles Times Fernandez is astute in the way he fills the empty hours on screen. He sets a slow steady rhythm and embraces lingering shots and long silences to catch the way the days are lazy about unfolding, especially for Sebastian. Jul 18, 2014 Full Review Glenn Kenny RogerEbert.com The movie has a small story but a big theme; the theme being experience, and it conveys the emotions and moods of its characters by taking things nice and slow. Rated: 3/4 Jul 11, 2014 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times This second feature by the Mexican director Aarón Fernández is a delight. Jul 10, 2014 Full Review Rubén Rosario MiamiArtZine It stays with you in ways you'd hardly expect from a deceptively simple tale of a boy coming face-to-face with career-driven independence - and all the responsibilities that come with it. Andrew H H A very quiet, considered film. If you like your films 'in your face', forget this. Well acted take on the older woman scenario, and lots of subtle touches, along the way. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A landscape of human relationships in a lost place in the coast of Veracruz, with its poetical and sordid moments. The film is like a memory of youth brought by the sea breeze. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member A "sexy monotony." Despite being on a beach, the film is cold and cyan. At any moment, makes it sound like something sensual and sexual can happen. At the same time, talks about the trivialization of sex and betrayal. Simple and b om film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review scott f Sweet, disarming coming-of-age film, another winner from Mexico, which is quickly becoming one of the best cinema countries outside the majors.
