Lewd, crude and very very silly--The Emu War is a completely over the top reimagining of a real 1932 military operation, wherein the army attempted to cull the wheat-crop-eating western emu population with heavy artillery, and lost. In this (extremely loose) version Major Meredith (Damian Callinan), whose son was kidnapped by the Emus, leads a motley crew of soldiers behind Emu enemy lines to find and destroy the Emu Queen. Cue explosions, puppets, mind-boggling effects and a surprising amount of explicit romance.

While I doubt anybody will be watching The Emu War and splitting their sides, it’s sometimes laugh-out-loud funny, and maintains an enjoyably squirrelly momentum.

Comprehensively dreadful...Vulgarity for the sake of comedy is a noble enterprise. Vulgarity for its own sake is not only unfunny, it’s boring...Why is the Australian film industry still capable of making movies this bad?

At times this is an epic tale of betrayal, tragedy, and ludicrous historical inaccuracies. At other times, the ghost of someone who’s just been killed starts having sex with his own corpse.

This movie is absolutely the best film ever produced. The writing is simply exquisite, and the cast really brings the film to life. The characters feel real, like I really know them personally and could really be friends with them if I took the time to really understand them. The plot twists are really interesting and are quite astonishing with his they effect the plot. I have a foot fetish. I dont really watch movies with puppets in them but the emu boobs are quite nice to look at and gave me a pleasurable experience during my watch. Genuinely thr greatest movie ever. 10/10

***WARNING*** Don’t watch this movie!!!! Simply bloody stupid and a waste of time. I can’t imagine anyone thinking that this 72 minutes of rubbish was worth releasing, let alone watching. This movie should be considered the biggest failure of Australian cinema. Top 3 reasons to avoid watching this movie. 1. It makes no sense 2. It is not funny 3. The title and premise of the movie is totally unrelated to the content of the movie

Ridiculous premise, ridiculously bad props, and a ludicrous plot. The absolute absurdity of the whole thing, based on a real event, does create moments of uproarious laughter with monty python style gags and comedy. Definetely not for everyone as it ironically does not take itself seriously and displays a complete lack of anything even resembling depth from start to finish.
