Steph Green Empire Magazine A metafictional work elevated into something new: deeply felt and true as a story about parental enigma, spectral remembrance and ingrained British repression. Rated: 4/5 Mar 18, 2024 Full Review Christina Newland Monocle [Swinton] is masterful. Dec 2, 2023 Full Review Clarisse Loughrey Monocle I was really moved. Dec 2, 2023 Full Review Victoria Luxford City AM The twist may seem inevitable by the time it comes around, but The Eternal Daughter is a skillfully made ghost story which highlights a filmmaker always willing to test herself. Rated: 4/5 Dec 11, 2023 Full Review Emma Simmonds Radio Times The Eternal Daughter is anchored by a lovely dual turn from Swinton, who conjures two very distinct characters and effectively portrays the fondness and frustration that exists between them. Rated: 4/5 Dec 7, 2023 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall While the film is often infuriatingly ethereal, patient viewers will find it intriguing and deeper than it looks. w donald s Superb acting from all three actors Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/08/22 Full Review Cynthia S The ageless endeavor of the child to fix what is perceived to have been broken in life as ordained by memory but irretrievable in death. I suspect from the one star reviews that a lot of reviewers have difficulty dealing with death grief and loss..at least within the context of cinematic art, or possibly find dark spaces more clearly defined by the presence of chainsaws. This is not a horror story but rather a sweet and “haunting” treatise on the panoply of emotions brought to consciousness with the death of a parent: guilt, sadness, anger and the acceptance of the reality that we did not nor could not satisfy our parents completely in life as is the child’s eternal wish. Beautifully acted and filmed in a gothic setting .. the backdrop of a horror film.. but no horror … merely a dreamscape of regret, love and the desire to get it right.. to explain to the departed who we are and how hard we tried to love them , please them and get it right .. A beautiful film, not an action film and no one said “BOO” Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/20/24 Full Review Paula S We waited and waited for this movie to start and it never really went anywhere. We didn't even bother to watch the whole thing. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/16/24 Full Review kristopher h Oh my god I couldn’t stop falling asleep this was incredibly boring. You will get more enjoyment watching water boil.. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review Craig M What a performance. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review jimmy b You will definitely want to stay at the English countryside Inn, but you'll definitely be bored watching this movie. Tilda is superb in a duel role. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review Read all reviews
