This film, however, feels similarly stuck in a previous era of East Asian horror, trudging steadily down the repetitive, sometimes problematic tropes of the ’90s serial killer flick without doing all that much to subvert them. Go to Full Review

Its technical confidence is undermined by uneven pacing, overcomplicated plotting, functional secondary characters and a final revelation that is disturbing without being fully convincing. Go to Full Review

Reasonably engaging for the first hour and change, before falling apart into one of the most contrived, absurd—and derivative—final acts in recent memory. Go to Full Review

The Eyes is an inferior remake of Guillem Morales' 2010 thriller Julia's Eyes, a story about a woman going blind, as she tries to solve the mystery of who murdered her identical twin. This remake is repetitive, dull, and often incoherent. Go to Full Review

Barb A @Badfinger Jul 14 THE EYES or NUNDONGJA is a Korean Hitchcockian thriller. Performances are good and some of the shots are well done (particularly, one with a broken mirror), but it's not enough for it to rise above it's predictable, by the dots storyline. It tries to keep the viewer off balance by throwing in a ton of flashbacks, but the story is so predictable, that you find yourself wishing it would hurry up and end. It is a remake of the Spanish film JULIA'S EYES. I suspect that one is better. See more K P @KKpper Jul 8 The acting is good. The story is predictable but enjoyable. I enjoyed the homage to other great horror / thrillers. This is clearly good not great. You won't hate it, but you won't love it either. You'll be okay with it and sometimes that's okay.
