Arley D Guys, I'm Filipino. And I'm a fan of Dante Basco. I was utterly excited to see him and his siblings in their own movie, and I must say, this family comes from amazing stock. They're all wonderful people, and their on-screen banter reminded me of my own relationship with my brother and sister. However, the storyline was awful. The plot couldn't find itself if it was staring directly at a mirror. The forced romantic plotlines were flat, and the dialogue was unnatural. I did not enjoy this movie at all, save for a few jokes scattered throughout its runtime. I'd like to see these siblings give it another shot, but this time, with something that connects more deeply to its target audience. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/05/22 Full Review Audience Member Wonderful film that’s funny but also poignant and will leave you feeling better about the world. Highly recommend! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/03/22 Full Review Audience Member Enjoyed this movie! Directing, acting, and writing were well executed and high quality! The fact that I related to every second of this movie helps as well. For the first time, I saw endearing parts of my life played out on a Hollywood screen, through the eyes of artists and humans like me! Keep up the great work! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/22 Full Review Audience Member I wish I could give this more stars. Every now and then a movie comes along that just nails the genre. This movie absolutely delivers on so many levels, from the seamless telling of multiple viewpoints which weave together a flawless story, to the deep routed message about the importance of mental health and family. This is not just another movie, it is a FILM, a film that is at the pinnacle of its craft produced by artists and like a lunch made by your mother, made with love. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member In a Filipino Family we have those type of siblings whether how old or how many siblings, I can definitely relate. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member it does not represent the typical filipino american lifestyle. we do not go cockfighting to be able to pay for our brothers wedding. also, why are there to much arguments. it seems like the beginning half had too mich talking. disliked that the wedding had a hawaiian theme with the wardrobe choices when filipinos are already confused by many to be only hawaiian. it was a solid beginner debut with but unlike some reviews, I just didnt relate. Why did the mom want the kids to relate to their heritage but had a full American accent. too many things going on. Characters were supposed to be funny but the humor didnt pass. not worth the price I paid to buy the movie but at least itll feed someone some adobo. Teo Bugbee New York Times The most poignant appeal of this movie is the feeling it creates of being welcomed into a family that radiates all things bright and good. Feb 10, 2022 Full Review Kelly Kimball San Francisco Chronicle Romance and comedy are part and parcel, and both are done with aplomb. But what gives the work its distinction are its intersections. Rated: 3/4 Feb 7, 2022 Full Review Kristy Puchko IGN Movies A comedy that is warm, outlandish, and entertaining. Mar 28, 2021 Full Review Doug Walker Channel Awesome Feels a bit like a sitcom, but a really funny sitcom. The lighter moments make the dark comedy all the more surprising and humorous. Even with that, it still manages to have a great deal of heart. Rated: 3/4 Mar 19, 2022 Full Review Edward Douglas The Weekend Warrior A really sweet and funny movie that mixes Filipino and American traditions, and I recommend seeking out. Rated: 7.5/10 Feb 9, 2022 Full Review Sabina Dana Plasse Film Threat Dante Basco and his family have done something many others failed: they made a family picture, as a family, that is a true family affair.
